    The 11th Down From the Hills Heritage Music Festival and State of Mississippi Bluegrass Championships are set May 19, 2012, at the Union County Fairgrounds in New Albany, Mississippi. Cash awards in both youth and adult will total $8,000, as well as bragging rights with the state trophy. Competitions in fiddle, guitar, mandolin, banjo and dobro are the individual competitions. Bluegrass band competition will determine the state bluegrass band winner for 2012. A Pony Pull by the Northeast Mississippi Pony Pullers Association, Union County Quilt Show by the Union County Piecemakers and workshops for children are part of the event.   6. Polly Burre Memorial Old Time Fiddlers’ Contest

    Saturday, June 28, 2014 • 5 p.m. Registration begins at 4 p.m.
    Tebbetts, Missouri

    For the first time in 15 years, the Tebbetts Community Picnic is bringing back an old-time Fiddler’s Contest.

    It will be named for the late Kenneth “Polly” Burre (1916-1999), who was a well-known organizer, promoter, and emcee of fiddle contests all over Missouri. Polly was also a musician in his own right.

    The event is part of the Tebbetts Community Picnic. The Picnic has been held since 1948. Tebbetts is located 13 miles east of Jefferson City on Highway 94. (map)
